Industrial heat pump service in India
Tetra Heat Pump is a product of Promethean Energy Private Limited. We service industrial heat pumps across India. Our published response window is 24 to 48 hours, and it does not depend on your location. Our engineering base is in Mumbai, our service engineering in Delhi and our technical sales in Pune. We serve installations well beyond those three cities.
Buyers of capital equipment screen on service before they screen on efficiency. This page sets out our service commitments, and what any supplier, including us, should put in writing.
Where our people are
Mumbai
Where the machines are designed and specified, and where configuration decisions on a duty are made.
Delhi
Our service engineering base. The northern belts, including the Manesar, Bawal and Faridabad clusters, are covered from here.
Pune
Technical sales for the Maharashtra industrial belt, including Chakan and Ranjangaon.
The same response window applies everywhere. If your site is a long way from all three cities, tell us at the enquiry. We will tell you what coverage looks like before you order.
What happens if it fails during production?
There are four steps, and the second matters more than the third. A response window alone does not tell a production manager what carries the load.
Remote diagnosis first
The unit connects to BMS, SCADA and PLC networks over Modbus and BACnet. So an engineer can read a fault condition, its history and the readings around it before anyone travels. A material share of call-outs are controls or setpoint issues, and those are resolved without attendance.
What carries the load in the meantime
On a retrofit, the original fired plant normally stays through the first year for this reason. It runs on lead and lag with the heat pump. On a multi-unit installation the remaining units carry a reduced duty. Buffer storage covers a short interruption without the process noticing. Which of the three applies to you is a design decision. Settle it at the order.
Attendance
Our published response window is 24 to 48 hours, wherever the site is. The window is the same on every contract tier.
Parts
What is held against your configuration depends on the maintenance contract. Ask for the stocked list, part by part. A statement that spares are available is not enough.
Who else can service the machine?
More people can service it than a buyer usually assumes. Establish who before you sign anything, including with us.
An industrial heat pump is a refrigeration machine running in the other direction. The compressor, the expansion device, the exchangers and the refrigerant handling are work a competent industrial refrigeration contractor already does. Four things are specific to the manufacturer. They are the control logic, the performance baseline, the parts that are not standard, and the judgement about what a symptom means on this machine.
Establish that split at the order. Which routine work can your own maintenance team or a local contractor do? Which work needs the manufacturer? Does doing the first kind locally affect anything contractual? A supplier who will not answer that is telling you the machine is more captive than it needs to be.
This is the part of a supplier conversation worth the most time, and it is the part that usually gets the least. A machine that performs is easy to buy. A machine that can still be serviced in year eight is what a plant is actually committing to.
What to ask any supplier
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Where is the nearest engineer actually based? | A marketing radius on a map is not a service footprint. Ask for the city, and ask what is covered from it. |
| Who else can service this machine? | Compressors, expansion devices and controls on industrial heat pumps are largely standard components. Establish which parts a competent local refrigeration contractor can work on, and which need the manufacturer. |
| What spares are held, and where? | A machine waiting on an imported component is not down for a day. Ask which items are stocked in India and which are ordered. |
| What happens if it fails during production? | The answer should cover remote diagnosis first, then attendance, then what carries the load in between. If the answer is only a response window, the plan is incomplete. |
| How is performance verified after commissioning? | A falling coefficient of performance is the earliest signal this equipment gives, and it is invisible without a baseline and the instruments to measure against it. |
The longer version of this list, including what actually fails on this equipment in Indian conditions, is in service and reliability.
How performance is verified
We verify it by measuring the coefficient of performance at the duty. That needs three readings taken together: heat delivered, electricity consumed, and the source and output temperatures the machine was working across.
Heat delivered comes from flow rate and the temperature difference across the condenser, so the circuit needs a flow meter and matched temperature sensors. Electricity consumed comes from a dedicated meter on the unit. Both are cheap at installation and awkward to add later. Put them in the specification, so they do not become a later argument.
A baseline is taken at commissioning and every scheduled visit is measured against it. That is the only way a slowly falling COP becomes visible, and a slowly falling COP is what this equipment does instead of failing. The maintenance page sets out what a contract covers.
